8:14, the apartment

Man, that Wednesday just looks so wrong. Anyway, I do have a few interesting bits of news to report, and hopefully some adventures.

First, we are snowed in! That’s right, it snowed over night here! Our car is pretty much buried, and the clinic is shut down for today. Important discovery: Snow is cold and heavy.

I’m just glad we brought enough warm clothes. I’m getting chilly just thinking doubt it, and I’ve got my warmest pajamas and a North Face fleece on.

The downside to this is, mom is going to be in the apartment all day. I’m going to be lucky if I ever get anything done!

But, I have better news. I finally did something relatively adventurous yesterday: I made an origami/ life size paper saber, with scabbard. (I also made this weird looking knife with a ring in the hilt to tie a rope to, but that’s not as important.) This sword is really sturdy, despite being paper, because the inside is reinforced with some very strong paper, which makes it pretty much like a piece of wood or cardboard. As long as I’m not too hard on it, it should hold up just fine.

Also, we watched a movie last night about an adventure in a balloon. The movie is called The Aeronauts, and it has Eddie Redmayne in it. (He’s the guy who played Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Great actor.) I’m just going to warn you, do NOT watch this movie when you want to relax. (The Aeronauts, not Fantastic Beasts, although it does apply for both.) It is a movie that will have you literally biting your nails, like I was when they were FALLING FROM THE SKY.

However, it is a really good movie, and quite sweet, with lots of adventure to balance out the maudlin stuff. I would recommend it, just not late at night when you want to go to sleep. Five out of five stars for that movie, at least in my book.

Well, that’s all for now, but you’ll be hearing from me again tomorrow, unless I get eaten by a dinosaur, which is unlikely.

I love Egypt and anything to do with archaeology, am an amateur fencer, and want to be an actress. I am currently living with my parents, and my occupation is student. I'm also a Girl Scout. I have very many diverse interests, including all those listed above and several more. I qualify myself as a Steampunk, which means I love anything old and think I own a dirigible. (If you couldn't tell, I'm a little wacky, but then, all the best people are.) I happen to be a practicing magician and have more books than anyone I've ever met, except my grandmother. Looks like bibliomania is hereditary. What I love is a good adventure. Would you like to come along with me?
