And yes, I do now have that incredibly annoying song from Frozen 2 stuck in my head. Why did I say that again?
Oh yes. We’re going on a week-long trip to Casper, and leaving later today. Not exactly traveling 4,000 miles in a submarine or braving Greek sea monsters, but still. It definitely feels that way.
I’ve spent multiple months wishing I could get out of the house and travel, but now that I can, I’d rather stay home. How weird is that?
To be honest, the idea of going anywhere is kind of scary. It’s not that I’m scared of going to Casper in particular, and I’m not scared to death, but I think it’s probably the same feeling that sailors would get while casting off. I think I might be a little homesick, and I haven’t even left yet!
Anyway, I was thinking of keeping a travel log of sorts on my blog, so you guys can see what I’m doing each day. Please let me know if you think this is a good idea….
I’ve been reading a lot of adventure stories lately, namely Jules Verne and the Odyssey, so I’ve kind of got that stuck in my head. I might even go so far as to say that the Odyssey was the world’s first adventure novel. And if you’ll allow me to go even further, that Jules Verne was one of the greatest adventure novelists, with Clive Cussler coming in close behind.
I really love adventure, but I could say that’s obvious. Just about anything that could fall under the title of ‘adventure’ will get me too excited to talk to anybody until I’ve read the book. My taste in adventure ranges from 19th century literature, including Sherlock Holmes, to modern Dirk Pitt novels, especially Treasure of Kahn, ANYTHING Steampunk, and sci-fi movies like Star Wars.
The only criteria for an adventure- for me at least- is that it has to be exciting, get my heart beating faster, and leave me wanting more. It could be even simpler than that, to be honest. It could just be something I’ve never done before. In that case, pretty much all my books are adventure novels, including Harry Potter. Weird how that worked out.
I’m hoping to make this week a little more adventurous, but I’m not entirely sure how. If anybody has any ideas…….
So anyway, it’s about time I got up and around and ready to cast off. Adventure is scary, my friends, but that’s why we do it. Good luck on your own voyages of discovery.
Bon Voyage!
P.S. There might be an update later, when we actually start traveling. Bye!
