I Was on An Extended Hiatus

Sorry! I was completely zoned out of this blog for over a month! Ack! If there’s anybody out there who still reads this, I apologize profusely. But anyway, we’ve got bigger problems.

I’ve become one of them. One of those creatures who are hated by the traditional vampire community. A being who is shunned by half the vampire fandom and loved by the other. I’ve become……….

……….a Twilight fan girl.

I know what I said before, and I really did mean that at the time, but in the times of the pandemic, desperate measures of survival are called for. It was either me or the virus, and I would really rather that I win.

In the battle against boredom and lack of books, you must sometimes take measures you might regret. You might have to go back on your principles, and question everything you hold to be true.

You see, I had promised myself that I would never read the Twilight books. I didn’t want to get sucked (yes, bad pun) into all the teenage romantic drama. I believed that it was a simple love triangle, in which two of the members just so happened to be a vampire and a werewolf. I thought that a world where vampires sparkled in the sun was far inferior to the world of Dracula.

Oh, how wrong I was. My perception has changed completely now, and I find that I’m slowly getting sucked (okay, fine, I’ll stop now) deeper and deeper into this fandom. I don’t think I’ll be able to find my way back to my old values again. It most likely has something to do with Jasper and Carlisle.

But I will say that I will maintain some of my dignity. I will not join either Team Edward or Team Jacob. (My mother is on team Jacob, by the way.) I will not wish for either of them, and I will most certainly not have any patience with Bella for jumping off cliffs.

Instead, I will join Team Jasper and Team Carlisle, devote myself to learning vampire history and biology, and finding a solution to the sparkling-in-the-sun problem. I will make the Volturi my allies so that I have somewhere to go when I get sick of Edward and Bella and Jacob. And I will become Renesmee’s big sister and teach myself how to be a good sister.

(((I’m tryin’ to figure out if I’m talking as a fangirl or as a character right now. Honestly, it doesn’t matter, but if it’s the second: Jasper, leave my head in peace for a hot minute! You know I can’t deal with the southern accent right now, I’m busy!)))

Also, the sparkling in the sun problem. Most likely, the venom in their skin is reacting with the ultraviolet light. It can only happen in direct sun because that’s when the UV rays are strongest. What’s the solution for blocking UV light? Wear sunscreen! Why is this not a thing, or at least an experiment????

And please, why couldn’t we just have some of the following things, instead of 3271 variations on the sentence: “Edward and Bella kissed.” ???? Like the following:

  • Carlisle being a vampire bio nerd
  • Esme kicking butt more than she does
  • Jasper being Major Jasper Whitlock, and not just Jasper Hale. (I mean, come on! He was famous! And totally boss!)
  • Leah. Just more of Leah. And Seth. Seth is adorable.
  • Any and all things having to do with the Volturi. Seriously, they are not the boogyman, don’t make it seem like they are.
  • Jane and Alec being adorable twins. Because they are!
  • Demetri and Felix telling jokes, then suddenly pretending to be serious when Jane walks up. They expect her to scold them, but she delivers the punchline.
  • More about all the interesting covens, like the Amazons and the Irish and the Egyptians.
  • More of Benjamin. He’s really cute.
  • Pretty much more of everything other than the angsty Bella/Jacob/Edward dynamic!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, that just drives me up the wall. But I don’t want this to turn into a rant, so I’m going to stop talking about that for now. But I’m watching you, Edward Anthony Masen Cullen! Yeah, you!

Outside of that, I’m doing well. I’m working on my book, which will probably turn into a series. I’ll let you guys know the title of my book when I know it.

Also, I got my first Covid vaccine on Wednesday! My arm was killer sore for a couple days, but it’s so totally worth it! My life is finally going to get back to normal! Seriously, if you get the chance, get vaccinated. I already feel a lot safer, and I promise it’s not dangerous. My mom wouldn’t let me get it if it was, and she’s a doctor, so she should know. But GET VACCINATED!

I’m really excited for summer, if only because I have a lot of work to get done on my writing projects.

We’ve been getting a lot of rain lately, which I love. I love the sound of the rain. Thunder is good too. Just hearing the patter is very comforting, plus I love how wet and green everything looks after it rains. Smells good, too!

So, that’s all for now! And if it takes all my energy, I promise I will not leave you guys hanging on a post again! Plus, then I get to torture you guys with all my crazy ideas!

So long for now, my loves! Arrivederci!

Adventurer, storyteller, detective, book lover and dragon enthusiast. If you walk into my room, you may run into a stray cat goddess or pirate's parrot. I love Egypt and anything to do with archaeology, am an amateur fencer, and want to be an actress. I am currently living with my parents, and my occupation is student. I'm also a Girl Scout. I have very many diverse interests, including all those listed above and several more. I qualify myself as a Steampunk, which means I love anything old and think I own a dirigible. (If you couldn't tell, I'm a little wacky, but then, all the best people are.) I happen to be a practicing magician and have more books than anyone I've ever met, except my grandmother. Looks like bibliomania is hereditary. What I love is a good adventure. Would you like to come along with me?
